I have another tutorial up of my very own Lip Scrub! It’s super short and to the point, just so that my beauties know how to use it when they purchase. Potion Queens lip scrub is great for exfoliating, moisturizing and smoothing your lips. It reduces discoloration, heals and soothes your skin. As well as it boosts the blood circulation, leaving your lips ever so plump! For ordering details, please feel free to email me ❤
As I’ve stated in my previous post, it is now officially Winter (not my favorite season)! It’s now the end of the year and of course as the seasons change, we change too! So it’s important to cleanse yourself of toxins or any build up when the season changes, to prevent you from getting the common cold or flu. While on my fast a couple weeks ago, instead of just drinking water and tea, this time I decided to make fruit smoothies with sea moss aka Irish moss. As some of you may know, sea moss has a collective of 92 of 102 minerals that the body is made up of!
So of course, this stuff is amazing! To prepare my sea moss, I Clean it, let it soak for a day then boil it until it becomes a gel and I store it in the fridge. I usually use 5 tablespoons while incorporating it into my smoothies and although sea moss isn’t so tasty, you can barely taste it when it’s mixed into plant based milk, a smoothie or whatever you choose! One thing I realized while having sea moss on my fast was that it gave me a boost of energy! Any time I started to feel weak, I would blend up some fruit along with my sea moss and within minutes I was revived!
Sea moss is known for boosting energy, curing anemia, bettering your skin, helps with digestion problems as well as improving your mental and ect. I could go on and on with the benefits of sea moss, but I rather stick with telling you how it helped benefit me! For as long as I can remember, I always struggled to keep my body warm, now trying sea moss I can see how much warmer my body has become. I’ve also noticed how my skin has become much clearer and I feel like my face has more of a glow to it now. I have had acne problems since I hit puberty and I’m telling you, I’m loving my skin now!
So if you’re having any skin problems such as rashes, acne, eczema and or psoriasis, sea moss is the answer for you! Another problem I’ve been experiencing for a long time before converting to being vegan and fasting is constipation! And as you can imagine, constipation sucks! Constipation leaves you feeling bloated, full or causes stomach pain. Worry no more! Sea moss will definitely help aid with digestion, just changing your diet can also help!
Lastly, because of all the bad foods we put into our bodies, it has our mental out of wack! It definitely helps me to think clearer and tames my anxiety as well as it brings my stress levels down! As you all should know, stress is very dangerous to your health, so sea moss would definitely help in this area! If you always find yourself stressed, take some time to yourself and meditate (yes, it really helps)! I hope I’ve been helpful, please check back later for more health and beauty tips!
I have missed you so much! I have been enjoying life, taking time to myself and just learning more and more each day! As you know, it is now Winter (not my favorite season)! Being as though that it is now Winter the air is now cold and DRY and being that the air is dry this may cause dry skin, brittle hair and of course CHAPPED LIPS! I previously talked about chapped lips briefly, today I wanna get a little more into this topic.
We often try to treat our lips way after they have gotten chapped. They start off dry, then we lick. Then we lick, lick, lick, again and again. Then they start to get chapped and we try to use lip balm, at this point forget about it, it’s already way too late and our lips start to crack! Going through this cycle repeatedly your lips may become discolored from lack of moisture. (discoloration can also come from smoking, dehydration even applying lipstick can discolor your lips) which is why it’s so important that we try to keep our lips moist before they get dry and of course always make sure you stay hydrated!
Discoloration in the lips can be embarrassing and you might find yourself trying to cover it up with lipstick (and we all know that most lipsticks are toxic). Well, hide no more, Beauty! I have a solution for you! My lips had gotten really discolored, as you can see in the picture above on the left. I started dabbing apple cider vinegar on my lips with a cotton ball each time before I applied my lip scrub (lip scrub coming soon). Within two weeks my lips were revived of its color and were as plump as ever (as pictured above on the right)!
Apple cider vinegar is well known for it’s magical toning properties, so usually when I see discoloration on my skin, apple cider vinegar is my go to! Having a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in your tea can be very beneficial not only for your skin but for your health overall. It flushes the toxins out of your body, leading you to optimal health! I hope I’ve been helpful my beauties, please check back for more health and beauty tips. Love you all!
Winter is over, time to shave those hairy legs of yours! Shaving can be a pain! I experience really dry skin after shaving leaving me really ashy and scaly. Now, I’m sure nobody has any time for that. Especially you, my Beauties! Traditional store bought shaving creams makes me itch something fierce! And of course if something itches you need to scratch. Which of course means you end up ashy anyway from scratching.
So to avoid that issue, I make my own shaving cream! There are so many DIY’s on how to make shaving cream online, I like to use Mango butter, Coconut oil and Lavender oil. Mango butter is great for dry skin and can treat psoriasis and eczema, coconut oil is a very well known natural moisturizer and lavender comforts that itch! But what about RAZOR BUMPS!?! I hate razor bumps with a passion! The only thing you can do is try to prevent them!
The best way to try to prevent razor bumps is by not only making sure you’re using a clean razor… but to make sure you bathe before you shave. You also need to make sure your skin is always moisturized and to use scrubs to exfoliate your skin. “But what if I don’t shave? What if I wax?” some of you may wonder. I have tips for you too! Waxing can be VERY expensive, especially if you like to go to upscale spa’s (like me, because I find them MUCH cleaner)! Making you’re own wax is soooo much more afforable with simple ingredients such as sugar and lemon. That’s right, just sugar and lemon!
I love waxing for the simple fact that it lasts waayyy longer than shaving and you don’t have to worry about razor cuts! So if you waste a lot of money on waxing, why not make your own? Just like shaving, waxing can cause itchiness and dryness. So make sure you keep your skin moisturized or use aloe on the area after you’ve waxed. If you want more info on homemade wax there are lots of DIY’s on this subject as well.
No one wants stinking armpits, which is why we use deodorant of course! But is it safe to use? Well, would you eat deodorant? No? So why put it on your skin? If it’s not safe to eat, it’s not good for your skin! Many deodorants have quite a few toxins lurking in them that causes clogged pores, hormonal imbalance, irritated skin, organ problems and or allergic reactions. You may not be experiencing any of these issues as we speak, but that doesn’t mean problems won’t arise in the future.
Aluminum, steareths, propylene gylcol and artificial coloring are just a few toxic ingredients to stay away from! Jason deodorant is a good deodorant to pick up. It has NO aluminum, parabens, phthalates or propylene gycol. Not all natural deodorants work the same for everyone so it could take some time to find the one that works just right for you! I prefer to make my own deodorant because I know the exact ingredients, it’s all natural and affordable!
A few ingredients I like to use in my deodorant potion are Shea butter so it doesn’t clog my pores, Baking soda so it absorbs odor and Bentonite clay to absorb sweat. But before trying to switch over to using natural deodorants, it’s important to detox your armpits first! You can do this by using Bentonite clay and Apple cider vinegar. Mix ingredients together thoroughly and apply it to your armpits. Let it sit for 15 mins before rinsing it off.
I recommend repeating this process for a week to fully detox your arm pits. Apple cider vinegar may cause a burning sensation so adding water or leaving it on for a shorter amount of time would help with that issue. I hope I’ve been helpful, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me! Check back later for daily health tips, DIY’s and regimens!
Chapped lips can be one of the most annoying things you could experience. No matter how many times you may lick your lips and or how much water you drink, your lips are still dry! If you’re experiencing this problem, I have a solution for you! I love to use coconut oil on my lips. Whenever I feel my lips getting dry I apply coconut oil and my lips instantly feel softer!
Some ingredients in chap sticks make your lips worse causing dryness, so you’re only wasting your money! Lip scrubs are also very effective for dry lips. The most known DIY lip scrub is honey and sugar. Mix honey and sugar together in a small container to store it in, make sure to add enough sugar to exfoliate your lips! My favorite ingredients to use in my lip scrub potion are honey, coconut oil, sugar and peppermint oil. I use one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of sugar, a pinch of coconut oil and a drop or two of peppermint oil (make sure to store it away in the refrigerator to keep it fresh).
So pucker up beauties! I hope I’ve been helpful. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me! Come check back later for daily tips.
We all at some point, experience unwanted dark spots, acne and or an uneven skin tone. Turmeric can be the cure for all of that and much more! I love to use turmeric under my eyes when I’m experiencing dark circles or as a face mask to help even out my skin tone by erasing blemishes. After making a turmeric face mask my skin instantly feels so amazingly soft and so bright, leaving my skin glowing! So if you have unwanted scars, oily skin and acne, turmeric is the answer for you!
It’s important to always start on a clean face. As I said in my previous post, I love to wash my face with black soap (preferably Raw African Black Soap). I then like to tone my face with my apple cider toning potion, let it dry then apply my turmeric & honey mask (I mix honey and turmeric to the thickness of my liking) and let it sit for 15 mins. I rinse my face with cool water and pat my face dry with a paper towel. I reapply my apple cider toning potion, let it dry and apply my favorite face moisturizer.
Face detoxing can also help you battle acne as well as black heads and should be done daily. A face detox cleanses your pores and improves the skin tone. I love to use Moroccan red clay powder because it’s for sensitive skin and it’s pure powder! It cleanses and purifies my skin, making me glow. I like to add a few capsules of vitamin E because it helps heal acne scars as well as keeping your skin looking ageless! When I do the Moroccan red clay powder mask I do the same process I do with my turmeric mask instead just using Moroccan red clay powder instead.
Let me start off by telling you that aloe vera is amazing, could really say it’s one of my best friends! Aloe vera has amazing healing properties; it can be used to heal acne, soften the skin and fade scars. After using it one night before bed, I woke up to a much clearer face! Couldn’t believe the results I gained so quickly! Aloe hydrates the skin, fades wrinkles and heals burns. So if you aren’t already using Aloe, why not?
As you know by now the benefits are endless with Aloe! It also moisturizes and cleanses the skin without the worry of causing build up. I usually wash my face with black soap then apply my apple cider toning potion and let it dry. After letting it dry, I rub aloe Vera gel on my face and let it sit for 15 mins. I then wash my face off with warm water and dry my face with a paper towel. I reapply my apple cider toning potion, let it dry then apply my favorite moisturizer.
Not only is aloe beneficial but also very affordable! You can grow your own aloe plant or buy it by the leaf at your local super market. Be sure you clean your aloe leaf before cutting it open. I hope I’ve been helpful beauties, please feel free to reach out to me about anything! Come check back later for more health tips.
Apple cider vinegar is awesome, especially for your skin in my experiences! Apple cider vinegar seems to fade pimples and scars overnight! Apple cider vinegar disputes wrinkles, clears/restores the skin and removes toxins! If it seems like you can’t get rid of acne no mater what you use, try apple cider vinegar! It will lift all the dirt in your pores.
I have oily skin so I love to use apple cider vinegar as a toner. Apple cider vinegar alone can burn your skin so it’s important that you dilute it, making it half water and half apple cider vinegar. In my apple cider toning potion I love to add essential oils, one of my favorite oils I use is tea tree oil! Tea tree oil is good for combating acne. I usually have my apple cider toning potion in a spray bottle so that I can just spray it onto a cotton ball and rub my face before I go to bed.
Do you ever experience really dry, rough skin after getting out of the shower? The toxins in your soap could be the culprit! Some of the harmful ingredients found in soaps can affect your hormones, cause allergic reactions and dryness. Most soaps on the market eat away at your skin, strips your skin of its natural oils and ages you faster. Sometimes you can still experience dryness after putting tons of lotion on.
So if you aren’t already using Black Soap, next time you go to your local market pick some up! Black Soap treats acne, vanish dark spots, lightly cleanses the skin to prevent stripping you of your natural oils. If you want other than black soap be sure to read ingredients and be aware of harmful toxins that can irritate the skin, such as sodium lauryl which is usually found in detergents, parabens which affect your hormones and diethanolamine which can obstruct nutrients. Black soap promotes smooth, soft and moisturized skin. It has truly been a skin curer for me and my experiences. I hope I’ve been helpful, come check back later for daily tips!
