It’s been a while since I blogged, I’ve been occupied with vlogging and I recently went back to work, so I don’t have as much time on my hands as I use to! But Don’t worry, Potion Queen isn’t going anywhere! This Fall I wanna focus more on skin care because in the colder seasons your skin is more prone to drying out, cracking and or peeling. Your skin is the biggest organ we have and it shows what we lack in our diets/skin care regimens, so it’s important to treat yourself with self care every once in a while! One important step that gets overlooked in skin care is exfoliation!
After showering/washing your face, it’s important to exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells that you may have missed with a cleanser. Cleansers typically only remove the first few layers of dirt, leaving oils and dead skin behind. Exfoliating helps open up the pores allowing masks and or moisturizers to penetrate into skin, instead of just sitting on top. Frequent exfoliation will make your skin look new and restored! You don’t wanna over exfoliate though, that will cause scratches, cracked skin and sensitivity.
I try to exfoliate my face 1-2 times a week, I love to use sugar and or salt scrubs that I can just whip up! If you don’t like salt and sugar you can always use oats, coffee, baking soda or wild rice instead. I also like using agave, grapeseed oil or jojoba oil in my scrubs, I don’t like using coconut oil so much because I have really sensitive skin! I always add a few drops of essential oils that cater to my skins need at that point in time!
